Camera Shots Activity

Low Angle

High Angle

Canted Shot

Extreme Close up

Mid Shot

Wide Shot

Today in class we experimented with different camera shots. We had to photograph a low angle, high angle, canted, extreme close up, mid shots, and wide shots. A low angle is when the photographer is shooting up at the model from a low angle. This often is used to show strength or power in the model because it makes them seem higher up. High angle is shooting down, which can sometimes show weakness or sadness. The canted is a tilted shot. This is used to show that something dramatic is going on. The extreme close up is a shot that is of a certain detail, usually on the face of lips or eyes. This shows importance, so the viewer focuses on it. The mid shots is from the waist up. This allows for some of the background to be show to give a sense of location, but focuses on the person. The wide shot is a full body shot. This shows the person and the location.
